Self portrait quarantine 2020

“I am fascinated by people and especially by their strength to cope with difficult situations.  In my work, I like to highlight the power that humans can show in order to survive, and their creativity when options are limited.”

Isabel Corthier (°1977, Belgium) is a freelance documentary photographer who works internationally for humanitarian organizations such as Médecins sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders), Caritas, IPPF, Enabel, Agricord and more.

Her projects are published in National Geographic NL, BBC, El Pais, GEO, De Volkskrant, STERN Magazine, Geographical, De Standaard newspaper, and other magazines.

Her photo and video contributions to the project 'The Commitment' lead in 2021 to a Gold Lion at Cannes.

Isabel’s work has been exhibited all over the world and is recognized with awards and nominations.

After a career in architecture (Belgium & Ireland), Isabel followed her social heart and character to become a photographer. Naturally she found herself telling stories of resilience. Over the years she specialized in photos for fundraising campaigns and communications for NGO's worldwide.

She also offers video recordings.

Through her photo print sales, she donates a part of the profit to the people portrayed or the NGO supporting the population.

Since 2014 she is an official Fujifilm X-Ambassador. Her current cameras are the Fujifilm X-H1, X-S10 and two X-100V's.

Lenses: XF35mm1.4, XF56mm1.2, XF18mm2.0, XF14mm2.8, XF16-35mm2.8 and XF 50-140 f2.8.

Isabel works with a tripod and a gimbal for video and a Rode microphone.
